If you have never experienced Flamenco dancing, Bullfighting, and Fiestas then you have to go to Madrid the capital in every way of Spain.

Like all capital cities there is a lot to see and that means that you have to plan your visit carefully and here are some of the things that it would be sad to miss. 

First Flamenco, even if you haven't experienced it you are sure to have heard of it, the rhythmic Spanish gypsie dancing accompanied by a Flamenco Guitar. Probably the best way to expeience Flamenco dancing for the first time is in a restaurant and one of the best is one of Madrid's oldest Flamenco restaurants El Corral de la Moreria. 

For Bullfighting then you should go to the main bullring Las Ventas it is so big it even has its own Metro station of the same name, Bullfighting is a summer event in Spain and that means timing your visit during May to July.

If you prefer football for your evening's entertainment rather than bullfighting then of course Madrid has two very famous teams waiting to entertain you during the winter months. 

If you like most people who aren't Spanish really wouldn't like to witness a bullfight then you have nothing to fear Madrid is a beautiful city and has been the capital of Spain for in excess of 400 years and that means wall to wall culture. 

You must not at any cost miss the Prado one of the finest museums and art galleries in the world, and when you walk to the Prado you are in for a treat, the Paseo del Prado is a tree lined piece of heaven, as is much of the oldest part of Madrid, when you have visited the Prado take a walk through the Madrid de los Austrias as the old town is called. 

If Picasso, Miro and Dali are favourite artists of yours and you didn't see enough of their work in the Prado then you have to visit the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia it is sublime. 

If you are lucky enough to be in Madrid at the beginning of May then you will be treated to the biggest fiesta in Europe the San Isidro which is the start of the Bullfighting Season but included fancy dress parades and carnival.

As well as being a 400 year old city Madrid boasts some of the most exciting modern architecture built in Europe in the last two decades don't miss the Civil Courts of Justice, Campus de la Justicia, the mad Eco-boulevard and of course the Carabanchel housing blocks all of which are treats.
