If you are in Rome then as the old saying goes, you will be doing a lot of things the Romans do. And quite frankly you won’t find a better place to do those sorts of things in, from eating delicate tasty cuisine served by people who know about cooking, to shopping for chic clothes and accessories in one of the birth places of design or looking at historic sites and wonderful buildings Rome is a place that has it all and has had ‘it’ for thousands of years.

Happily Rome is not the biggest city in the world and some of the wonders of the old world can be seen together, if you visit the Palatine Hill you can fit in not only Roman Forum then walk up the famous Via dei Fori Imperiali or imperial way to the Palantine Hill you can, when you reach the top of this amazing hill see the whole of Rome spread out beneath you.

Landmarks that you can spot easily and visit on the way down include the Circus Maximus, the Palazzo Massimo alle Terme and near by the 3rd century Diocletian Baths.

Honestly there is just so much to see in Rome that your visit no matter how long will probably and sadly be too short but make sure tat you don’t miss the Pantheon one of the most famous buildings in Rome and rebuilt by Hadrian of the Wall fame. 

Take one day and a really comfortable pair of shoes and walk around Rome and when you do make sure that you cross the Ponte Fabrico the bridge that spans the River Tiber and has done so faithfully for one thousand and forty three odd years. You can begin crossing the bridge after visiting the Theatre of Marcellus which was the brain child of Julius Ceasar no less and was completed after his death by Augustus who names the theatre after his dead nephew.
